Introduction

Each October I've written in-depth previews for each of the Cardinals' opponents as they progressed through the postseason. Some of these previews have been emailed to friends and family while the ones linked below have been posted on various blogs and last year's was published on the Fangraphs Community blog.

2014 NLDS vs Dodgers (Fangraphs) - Picked Cards in 4, Cards won in 4
2012 NLDS vs Nationals - Picked Cards in 5, Cards won in 5
2012 Wild Card Game vs Braves - Picked Cards 5-3, Cards won 6-3
2011 World Series Game Three - No pick, just Albert
2011 World Series vs Rangers - Picked Cards in 6, Cards won in 7

Don't worry, I actually have picked against the Cards on one occasion - the 2013 NLCS vs. the Dodgers.

The first Cardinals game I can remember is September 15th, 1995 when Ozzie Smith set the All-Time record for double plays turned by a shortstop. The Cards stunk that year but Old Busch was packed and the crowd went crazy when Ozzie set the record. I fondly remember getting both the 1994 and 1995 Upper Deck Collector's Choice team sets as well. The 1996 season brought a new manager, many new players, and numerous renovations to Busch Stadium. The season's marketing line was 'Baseball Like it Oughta Be' and Tony La Russa, Gary Gaetti, Dennis Eckersley, and Ron Gant powered the Cards to their first playoff appearance of my life. I saw Brian Jordan hit a critical home run in game four to put the Cards one win away from the World Series, only to see my dad and brother return home early the next night rather than watch the Braves complete a 14-0 win and send the series back to Atlanta.

That was the start of what is now a 20 year fandom. I wanted to have a space where I can write my thoughts about the season and strategy. This will be a Cardinals focused blog, but don't expect it to be highly optimistic about the team. I'll also write about general baseball issues when I can.

I'm looking forward to seeing how far this can go, thanks to those of you out there who have encouraged me to give this a go.
